Our Pictures

Some of these ladies have been rehomed by us and some are permanent residents.
As you will see, many are bald and some have just a few feathers missing.
We see some horrendous sights while rescuing hens, some look completely oven ready, some have broken toes, peritonitis, damaged beaks and other deformities.
MOST of the hens have somehow surivived over a year of hell, relatively unscathed apart from a few missing feathers which quickly regrow.
These birds are hardy which I assume is why they are abused so much. They will never put weight on and have plump breast bones like a that is bird bred for it's meat. Most breast bones stick out almost like razor blades.
These ladies are SO deserving of a new home where they can walk on grass and behave as hens should do.

 Some of the poorly hens
we brought back when we used to help Little Hen Rescue

Some of these are still having treatment and some are fully recovered and living with the flock.
All hens brought back by us get the medication and diet they need as well as rest, recuperation and loving care.
